Martin Allen has refused to confirm whether he will extend David Hunt’s loan deal from Oxford United, whilst reiterating his intention not to make any new signings.

The Bees boss has maintained since before January he would like to keep utility man Hunt at the club beyond the end of his current agreement, which runs until Saturday evening.

With January 31 falling on a Saturday, the transfer window will close at 11pm on Monday, February 2, leaving four days to complete any permanent moves.

However Allen was non-committal on the future of the 32-year-old on Tuesday. And when asked whether he would still like to keep the full-back-cum-midfielder at The Hive, he replied: “We will review that after the weekend. We will have to wait and see.”

Despite bringing Michael Gash to the club following his release by Kidderminster Harriers, Allen has been reluctant to add to his squad this month and remains unmoved.

“No, we are not bringing anyone in,” stated Allen.

The Barnet head coach also claimed he had “no idea” whether there had been any interest in winger Keanu Marsh-Brown and said there was “nothing happening at the moment” regarding transfer-listed forward Iffy Allen.

Clubs outside of the Football League will be able to sign players on loan again a week after the transfer window closes. The emergency loan window closes on Thursday, March 26.
