Potters Bar’s Robert Poth declared himself relatively happy after finishing fourth in the men’s NJR slalom at the English Alpine Championships.
The 17-year-old recorded the fastest British time at the competition but was pushed down to fourth place by just 0.15 seconds.
Poth clocked a time of 48.09 seconds in his first run, the second fastest overall time, but could not follow it up with his second attempt.
He said afterwards: “I am pretty happy. My first run was good and I was really pleased I took advantage of the good conditions.
“On my second run my steep section wasn’t so good, but I made up some good time on the flat to get closer to the leader.
“I am going home now for a few days and then will get prepared for the British Champs and hopefully achieve some good results there.”
