Three Saracens players helped England come from behind at half-time to beat Scotland 25-13 and keep their Six Nations hopes alive heading into the final round of fixtures.

Billy Vunipola started for the Red Rose at Twickenham, with brother Mako Vunipola and Richard Wigglesworth both featuring as second-half replacements for Stuart Lancaster's side.

England's day had got off to the ideal start with news of Ireland's 23-16 defeat in Wales, meaning their hopes of winning the championship remained very much intact ahead of kick-off.

Victory saw England retain the Calcutta Cup but more importantly, means they will win the Six Nations for the first time since 2011.

England, Ireland and Wales are now all on six points ahead of next weekend's final round of fixtures, with the Red Rose top by virtue of points difference - 37 to Ireland's 33 and Wales' 12.

Trailing 13-10 at the break, England rallied in the second period and overcame Vern Cotter's side thanks to a try and ten points from the boot of fly-half George Ford.

Exeter Chiefs' Jack Nowell sealed the all-important victory with a late try. Jonathan Joseph had gone over in the first half to give England the lead, only for Mark Bennett to go over for the visitors.

Ford and Greg Laidlow then exchanged penalties to make it ten apiece following successful conversions for either side

And a second penalty from Laidlow ensured Scotland went in ahead at half time at Twickenham for the first time in a quarter of a century.

But Ford converted his own try before kicking a second penalty to pick England seven points in front. Nowell then completed the job by diving over in the left-hand corner late on.

England host France on Saturday, March 21 as they seek to win the Six Nations for just the second time in its current format.
