Former Barnet goalkeeper Kevin Blackwell has left his role as coach with the club after less than a month, Martin Allen has confirmed.

The vastly-experienced 56-year-old only joined the Bees in a coaching capacity until the end of the season on March 2 but had not been seen at any of Barnet's last three fixtures.

Blackwell played for the Bees  between 1979 and 1980 and had been coaching on an ad-hoc basis earlier in the season before Gary Waddock signed a month-long rolling contract to assist Allen.

Asked on Saturday if the former Leeds United and Sheffield United boss was still working at the club, Allen confirmed he had left.

He said: "I had a good chat with Kevin. He did a great job but I think he has got one or two other things on the go at the moment and he could not really combine both the bits and pieces he has got outside of Barnet with what we do and so I am back on my own now."
