London Bees surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Everton Ladies on Easter Sunday, scoring their first goals of the season at the third attempt.

After a goalless opening day draw at Millwall Lionesses and a 7-0 humbling by Reading Women at The Hive, the Bees opened their Women's Super League 2 account on Merseyside.

First-half goals from Lucy Loomes and Leigh Nicol put Julian Broomes' side ahead. But the Toffees fought back in the second period and two goals in six minutes from Danielle Turner secured a point.

Broomes has added former Fulham pair Gemma Fraser and Charlotte Benson to his squad this week.

Fraser, 26, is an attacker, whilst 24-year-old Benson plays in defence. The duo join from Fulham Foundation Ladies.

Speaking to the club website, former Chelsea Ladies forward Fraser commented: “The facilities are great – having the chance to use the gym, the astros, the grass pitches is amazing and we have a good team of coaching staff and physios which is not something that I have always been used to.

“It is a challenge that I have been looking to take on for the last few years so it is nice to be able to test myself and be part of the growth of women’s football is great.

"The younger generations have something really good to look forward to so it is nice to now be part of the start of it," she added.

Benson, who has recently completed a four-year scholarship in America where she played for Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, added: “It is definitely a step up so I feel like I am really pushing myself further in the WSL.

"Having come from America I want to stay playing at a high level and this is the best opportunity for me to do exactly that.

“My first impressions are that I really like the coaching system and feel like I can progress as a player here - I feel like I have improved already from being here only a couple of weeks. I see this as an exciting new challenge.”
