Hendon's Isthmian Premier Division title hopes hang by a thread, in the words of Gary McCann, after back-to-back draws saw the Greens stutter.

League-leaders Maidstone United hold a four-point lead but have played a game more than the Greens, who were held to a 2-2 home draw by play-off rivals Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday after a dramatic 4-4 tie at Margate on Thursday evening.

Speaking to the club website, McCann said: "Our title hopes are hanging by a thread, but it is not over yet.

"Maidstone have two games left and both have the potential for dropped points. If they don’t win either game and we win our last three then the miracle will have been achieved."

Hendon were dealt a blow seven minutes before half time against Dulwich when James Fisher was given his marching orders for a reckless challenge on Albert Jarrett.

And the visitors made the most of their man advantage after the restart when Xavier Vidal controlled a clearance and fired beyond Ben McNamara in the Hendon goal.

In the 69th minute the home side levelled though, Sam Murphy firing home a penalty after Charlie Goode's 60-yard run was halted unceremoniously.

And with ten minutes left on the clock the Greens took the lead for the first time, Dave Diedhou nodding home from Elliott Brathwaite's centre.

However, there was sucker punch to follow as Dulwich equalised in the 87th minute, Jordan Hibbert's powerful shot ruled to have bounced down over the line after hitting the underside of the crossbar.

Hendon now need just one point from Saturday's trip to Grays Athletic to seal second place and a home play-off semi-final.

The Greens face Grays Athletic in the Isthmian League Cup final at Whyteleafe this evening.

They are at home to AFC Hornchurch on Monday before 'travelling' to landlords Harrow Borough at Earlsmead on Wednesday in the London Senior Cup semi-final.

Wingate & Finchley's end-of-season slump continued as they suffered a fifth defeat in eight on Saturday, going down 2-0 to struggling VCD Athletic.

The Vickers were in front after 11 minutes when Michael Power met Elliott Cox's cross to head beyond Wingate goalkeeper Bobby Smith.

Brad Hewitt shot narrowly over for the visitors and home stopper Nick Blue was required to keep out David Knight as Wingate pressed for an equaliser.

Blue produced a fine stop to deny Harrison Georgiou's volley after the break but the points were made safe when Power converted a last-gasp penalty for the hosts.

Wingate host Bognor Regis Town on Saturday.

In Spartan South Midlands Division One, Edgware Town thrashed Winslow United 7-1 in their final home game of the season.

Stuart Blackburne (3), Bilal Butt (2), Dennis Maharjan and Paul Marks all got on the scoresheet for the Wares.

Edgware are at Bedford on Saturday before travelling to Bush Hill Rangers on Wednesday.
