Saracens travel to London Welsh on Saturday for the final match of the regular Premiership season knowing they must defeat the already relegated side to maintain hopes of reaching the end of season play-offs.

Sunday’s disappointing 24-20 defeat to Exeter Chiefs at Allianz Park means all is still to play for with Leicester Tigers, Exeter Chiefs and the Men in Black all battling it out to claim the final two places in the semi-finals of the Premiership.

Sarries and Exeter Chiefs are level on points in the league table but the Devon side sit above the north Londoners by virtue of points difference. Exeter have a points difference of 198 while Saracens’ is 195.

That means Mark McCall's men have to match Exeter’s result and score four more points in the process to move above them in the table.

Exeter have a tricky home tie against Sale Sharks but Leicester Tigers are at home to league leaders Northampton Saints. And with the Tigers just one point ahead of both Exeter and Saracens, both teams could still move above the Midlanders and claim the two remaining spaces.

There are plenty of permutations, but Saracens director of rugby McCall has made it clear that his team’s focus will be on the pitch at London Welsh on Saturday and not elsewhere.

"We have to just focus on what we are doing, everything else is beyond our control," he said ahead of the game at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.

He added: "You never know what can happen in the last game of the season. For instance you don’t know what kind of mood Sale Sharks will be in when they go down to Sandy Park, you just never know. We’ve got to plan and prepare to beat London Welsh, and beat them by four tries and to make it a bigger margin as we can. Whatever happens elsewhere is out our hands. We are now in that situation."

Saracens hope to welcome back England international Billy Vunipola from an ankle injury for the match but centre Brad Barritt will face a late fitness test on his injured hamstring.
