London Broncos' hopes of making the Championship play-offs have been dashed after they were defeated 29-18 by Workington Town on Sunday.

Workington quickly took the advantage at the Zebra Claim’s Stadium, with Kurt Horton scoring after ten minutes.

Three minutes later and Town had increased their margin thanks to Brett Phillips' try and Jarrod Sammut’s resulting penalty.

Worky continued to increase the gap, with Sammut adding two more points to Town’s tally through a penalty kick.

If matters couldn’t get any worse for the Broncos, they lost Jamie Thackray through a knee injury midway through the first half.

Ben Hellewell finally got the Broncos on the scoreboard in the 37th minute, before Wes Naiqama converted to cut the deficit further.

Workington were to extend their advantage through a try, before Broncos' Joe Keyes and Wes Naiqama responded through efforts of their own.

Kris Coward and Sammut added to Workington’s tally, but Broncos Ben Hellewell hit back, as he converted his second try of the afternoon.

Carl Forber two penalties late on increased Workington’s lead and scuppered The Londoners chances of making the top four.

London end the season at home to Sheffield Eagles on Sunday (kick off 3pm).
