Finchley were unable to follow up last weekend’s win over Southgate with a victory as they fell to a narrow one-wicket defeat against Ealing in Division One of the Middlesex Cricket League Division One on Saturday.

Hosts Finchley were put into bat having lost the toss and Sayed Bukhari (57) started the innings well, reaching his half century before being run out.

Decent hauls from Jake Milton (33), Sumeet Sharma (27) and Hassan Khan (24) followed but the side were eventually bowled out for 211 after 48.5 overs.

With Ealing's top order stuttering, Finchley must have thought they were on their way to victory with the ball as Keerthi Ranasinghe took three for 34, but unbeaten Leigh Parry came in at six to smash nine fours and reach a total of 73.

Harry Podmore (24) partnered Parry to push Ealing towards victory and Chris Glasper got the side over the line to reach the target for nine.

Elsewhere in Division One, Stanmore came away with a convincing 148-run success at bottom side Indian Gymkhana.

Batting first, there were signs of nerves as the visitors slipped to an unconvincing 55 for four.

However, another 84 runs were added before the next wicket was taken, mainly thanks to the brilliance of Chamika Karunaratne (53).

Jimi Chialoufous (40) and Jay Parmar (29) then smashed four sixes between them to give Indian a mountain to climb as the visitors finished on 219 for eight from the 50 overs.

As Stanmore took to the field, Karunaratne then showed his class with the ball by taking five for 15 in just six overs.

Wicketkeeper Chirag Patel added 20, but that was as good as it got for the hosts as they slipped to 71 all out after just half of their permitted overs.

It's now three straight wins for Stanmore.

In the Hertfordshire League Premier Division, Potters Bar were beaten by two wickets at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Patrick Scott (31) cracked five fours but the side were bowled all-out for just 106 and Hemel reached the target with two wickets to spare.

In Division One, Old Finchleians were comfortably beaten by Broxbourne, who reached the target of 78 with five wickets to spare.

Totteridge Millhillians were in action in the Championship and pulled off a five-wicket victory against hosts Stevenage.

The home side hit 247 for six from their 50 overs, but the visitors replied with a knock of 251 for five.

In Division Three B, Old Elizabethans were on the wrong end of a 20-run loss; Hatfield Hyde scoring 193 for seven before the hosts were out for 173.

Finally, Mill Hill Village stay top of Division Six B with a 135-run victory over Eversholt.
