Barnet boss Martin Allen says he expects to sign goalkeeping cover tomorrow (Wednesday) after Jamie Stephens picked up a one-match ban for his sending off at Portsmouth.
The former Liverpool scholar was already deputising for the injured Graham Stack but picked up two yellow cards, the first for timewasting and the second for a tackle outside the penalty area, and will now miss Saturday's visit from Stevenage.
Under-18s goalkeeper Kai McKenzie-Lyle, 17, came off the bench for the final 23 minutes but could not prevent the Bees slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Fratton Park.
Speaking earlier today, Allen confirmed he would be bringing in cover whilst Stephens was suspended.
He said: "I’ve got someone in mind and hopefully that should be tied up by Wednesday lunchtime.
"I’ve reviewed the decision on the sending off and no, I don’t think it was harsh," he continued. "I thought it was a yellow card for the tackle so I think the referee got that moment right.
"Jamie is suspended for one game so we can’t do anything about that. Graham Stack won’t be available for this week so we have got to try to get one available for this week."
