London Broncos reached their first final for 16 years after defeating Dewsbury on Sunday.

The team's 34-18 victory sent them through to the Kingstone Press Championship Shield final this Sunday against Featherstone Rovers in Widnes.

The Broncos have previously failed to beat the Rams in four meetings this season but they made it count when it mattered.

London Broncos were tied at 18-18 at the break but the team pulled away from their opponents in a dominant second-half display.

Daniel Harrison scored two tries for the victors while Joe Keyes, Iliess Macani, Rhys Williams and Ben Hellewell also scored for the Broncos.

Forward Toby Everett told the club website: "Beating Dewsbury last Sunday really got the monkey off our backs, they’ve been our bogey team this year. Getting the result was outstanding."

The 19-year-old said: “The result came on the back of how we trained last week. The intensity has been there and the team’s attitude has been there and everyone has brought in to what we’re doing. Matt Davis tracking back for Dewsbury’s first try typifies that attitude."

The Broncos are relishing the final and Everett admits it is a dream come true.

He said: “To play in any final is massive. It’s always something I’ve dreamt about, along with getting a first team start it’s these big games you dream about. I’ll get more nervous the more I think about the game, but I can’t wait.

“To get in the 19-man squad will mean a lot. I didn’t expect to play so many games this year but Hendo (Head coach Andrew Henderson) has stuck by me. It’ll just prove to myself that I’m capable of doing what I need to do out there and hopefully I can help the team get the result on Sunday.”

The game kicks off at 4.30pm on Sunday.
