Curtis Weston has been replaced as Barnet captain by deputy Andy Yiadom with Martin Allen declaring the decision has been made to allow the midfielder to concentrate on his own game.
Midfielder Weston deputised for Charlie MacDonald on a number of occasions last season and eventually succeeded the striker as captain this summer.
However, the former Gillingham and Millwall man has struggled for form since taking on the role permanently and Allen has this morning confirmed vice-captain Yiadom will lead the Bees going forward.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, he said: “To help Curtis Weston, who’s done a very good job, I’ve changed the captain.
“Andy Yiadom will now be the captain. I’ve explained to Curtis my reasoning and my thought process is to help him concentrate on his own game.
“He’s been spot on since I’ve been here, absolutely superb for the football club. So it’s a big step up for Yids but one he can definitely handle. He’s a model professional on and off the field and he’ll do really well for us.”
