Martin Allen has revealed former Barnet midfielder Nicky Bailey is training with the Bees with a view to re-joining the club whilst "a couple" of others are also training.

The 31-year-old made 142 appearances for the club between 2004 and 2007, scoring 21 goals from midfield after stepping up from non-league Sutton United.

Bailey was released by Championship side Millwall at the end of last season but has been without a club since.

Speaking to the Bees’ You Tube channel this morning, Allen revealed the tenacious former Middlesbrough, Charlton Athletic and Southend United midfielder was training at The Hive.

He said: “Nicky Bailey is coming here to play this afternoon (against Brentford) and I’m hoping he does well.

“He did well at Millwall at the end of last season. He’s fit and ready to go now. He hasn’t got a club so we will see how Nicky does with a view to maybe taking him on.

“Of course he’s got to do well first.”

Bailey made just eight appearances for the Lions last season as they were relegated from the second tier but was not kept on by rookie boss Neil Harris.

Allen also revealed he was running the rule over a couple of other unnamed players.

He said: "We've got a couple of other players coming with a view to joining our team to play today that we're going to watch at Brentford.

"I think it's quite obvious we need to freshen it up and make a few changes."
