Barnet golfer Andrew Johnston's memorable season got even better this afternoon after qualifying for the US Open.

'Beef' clinched his first European Tour title at the Open de Espana last month and now he can look forward to competing at the next major at Oakmont in June.

Johnston finished in a tie for fourth at today's international qualifying at Walton Heath with 13 places at the US Open on the line.

He shot an opening four-under-par round of 68 which featured seven birdies and three bogeys.

Johnston followed this up in the second round with a level par 72 after mixing four birdies with four bogeys.

The popular North Middlesex Golf Club member competed in the Open Championship in 2011 but it will be his first major in America.
