Wingate and Finchley saw off a late comeback attempt from play-off rivals Leiston to leapfrog their hosts with a 2-1 victory in Suffolk.
The Blues took until the 70th minute to opening the scoring when Reece Beckles-Richards latched onto a poor goal kick from the hosts and fed Ben Pattie, who took a touch before slotting home.
Tommy Tejan-Sie looked to have put the game beyond doubt in the final quarter of an hour from another Beckles-Richards assist, this time a delightful ball over the top, and finished well to double the lead.
Leiston's response came through a Joe Francis header in the final minutes, but Wingate were comfortable in seeing out their victory.
Tomorrow night, they host local rivals Harrow Borough and can cement their place in the play-off places with victory.
Wingate and Finchley: Gore, Ifil, Abrahams, Vilcu (Sharpe 74), Cronin, Rifat, Laney, McCall, Pattie (Figueira 80), Beckles-Richards, Tejan-Sie.
Unused: Wales, Obafemi.
