Adam Powell believes the future is bright for Saracens after they came from behind to see off the Dragons 40-21 and secure their first Anglo-Welsh Cup win of the campaign.

Nick Tompkins was among six different scorers at Allianz Park as a youthful Saracens side battled back from a poor start.

Harrison Keddie had put the Dragons ahead but three tries in 10 minutes before half time from Mark Flanagan, Tompkins and Rotimi Segun changed the course of the game.

And further scores from Matt Gallagher, Sean Reffell and Tom Whiteley rounded off an impressive afternoon.

"I thought we did really well with some of the individual performances," said senior academy coach Powell.

"I thought Sione (Vailanu) had some really good carries, I thought Roti (Rotimi Segun) on the wing was very good, Max (Malins) controlled the game well at 10 and lots of others had good impacts on the game.

"More than the individual but the team stuck to their plan really well and executed what we wanted them to do.

"The forward pack did a lot of good things, loads of positives.

"It keeps us alive, but more than that it was a step up on our performances we've had so far, there's still some things to work on.

"But as long as their enthusiasm is there like it was, then not a problem."

In contrast, Dragons coach Rhys Thomas was left frustrated by the way his side caved in that 10-minute spell before the break.

Lloyd Fairbrother scored two second-half tries for the visitors but Thomas believes his players need to improve quickly.

"You're here to win games and however harsh it is, if you don't do your job then someone else will come and do it for you, that's just the way it is," he said.

"We knew it was going to be a hard place to come and play, even though they made a lot of changes and so have we.

"You don't mean to play bad, but that's just the way it was."
