Barnet did all they could but it wasn't quite enough as they suffered the agony of being relegated from the EFL on goal difference.
Martin Allen's men went into their final game of the season against already-doomed Chesterfield knowing they had to win and hope Coventry City beat Morecambe.
The Bees did what they needed to, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from John Akinde, Richard Brindley and Alex Nicholls, but with the Sky Blues knowing a point would guarantee a place in the play-offs, there was little incentive for either side to push for the winner, and it was no surprise their match ended 0-0.
It meant the Bees finished the season level with Morecambe on 46 points, but a goal difference of -15 compared to -19 saw Allen's escapology act fall just short.
