MARTIAL ARTS: Mill Hill Jiu Jitsu Club's Daniel Strauss was Fighter of the Year at the Seni 2008 Gracie Invitational competition at the Excel Centre over the weekend.
He also won gold in the adult division of his weight category (blue belt featherweight) and silver in the team event.
Strauss, 17, won all of his four fights to take gold on Saturday, before helping his team to a silver on the following day.
Finally, from more than 800 fighters, he was presented with the Fighter of the Year award from world champion Jeff Monson and black belt Braulio Estima.
Nobody came close to the results Strauss has achieved over the last 12 months, the highlight being his gold medal at the World NoGi Jiu Jitsu Championships in Los Angeles.
The Gracie Invitational is the biggest competition in the UK and the second biggest in Europe. It is held over two days in front of 25,000 people.
Fellow Mill Hill club members also came home with medals.
Nick Brooks was a gold medal winner in the featherweight division, while juniors William Henly, Anthony Warby and Mark Warby came home with silvers. Dale Jones also scooped a bronze.

TENNIS: Finchley Manor Tennis, Squash and Health Club is hosting an open day on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm.
Everybody is welcome to come along and enjoy the tennis facilities, with free coaching for juniors and organised tennis for adults.
The club bar and café will be open.
The club, based in Lyndhurst Gardens, has ten outdoor tennis courts, four squash courts, gymnasium and bar/lounge.
Discounts will be given to anybody who joins the club on the day.

CYCLING: Finchley Racers were in action at the Festival Road Race, held over 85 miles on a course round High Roding in Essex.
Vince Divine and Edgar Medellin chased and caught a ten-man breakaway group, which split in two towards the halfway stage of the race, with Divine eventually claiming fourth place.
Medellin, Daryl Gannon and Johnny Torres finished in the main bunch two minutes behind.

CRICKET: New Zealander Will Somervile will spearhead the coaching staff at Totteridge Millhillians CC this season.
Somerville plays for Otago in the State Championship and has been part of the New Zealand Academy.
Somervile, in charge of both the adults and colts, said: "I'm really looking forward to playing in the Herts League."
The 1st XI begin their Division One campaign on Saturday at Berkhamsted.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Olympiacos Youth U11s secured the Watford Friendly League Yellow Division Championship by eight points.
And they never lost a game throughout the season.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: Hendon Ladies beat Crowborough 4-1, with Chloe Cummings, Kirsten Thomson, Tasha Ademakinwa and Liz Cabey scoring.
