Mixed season for ex-Bees

It has been a mixed campaign for some ex-Barnet players, and many will be coming to Underhill next season.

Crowd favourite Simon King had an excellent first season at Gillingham, earning a player-of-the-year award for his efforts, but he could not singe-handedly save the Gills from relegation and they will be joining Barnet in League Two next season. Team-mate Barry Cogan, who followed King to Priestfield, has not had such a good campaign, struggling to make the first team. He ended the season on loan at Blue Square Premier League Grays Athletic, where keeper Ross Flitney and Adam Gross have been plying their trade.

Nicky Bailey also won an end-of-season award with new club Southend United, but he suffered the heartbreak of missing out in the League One play-offs.

Meanwhile, Tresor Kandol will be hoping to start for Leeds United when they face Doncaster Rovers in the final at Wembley this weekend. Kandol has had a good season.

Anthony Charles and Louis Soares are other Bees who will be renewing acquaintances next season. They are back in the Football League, current club Aldershot Town having run away with the Blue Square Premier League title. Both have become regulars at the Recreation Ground.

Ben Strevens also helped keep John Still's Dagenham & Redbridge in League Two with some important goals, though team-mate Richard Graham saw his season ruined by injury.
