FULL TIME: BARNET 1 ROCHDALE 1

Captain Ismail Yakubu earned Barnet a replay with a second-half equaliser at Underhill this afternoon.

The centre-back struck midway through the half, aftter the visitors had taken the lead just after the interval.

Neither side looked like finding a winner in the remaining minutes, and they will have to do it all again at Spotland on Tuesday week.

This was a disappointing FA Cup tie, with chances at a premium.

Barnet manager Paul Fairclough named the same side that performed so well at Bradford last week, with new signing Ryan Burge having to settle for a place on the bench.

The first chance of the game fell to Dale, Lee Thorpe seeing a shot deflected wide.

The same player was then presented with another chance on the edge of the box, but he failed to keep his shot down.

It was a shaky start from the hosts and Chris Dagnall might have done better after turning marker Ismail Yakubu just inside the box, but he never really got hold of his shot and keeper Lee Harrison was not troubled.

The visitors were looking the more dangerous, Tom Kennedy floating a free-kick over, as the Bees struggled to get out of their own half.

There was a further blow to Barnet midway through the half, Joe Devera picking up an injury and having to be replaced by Nicky Deverdics. Max Porter moved to right-back, with Deverdics slotting into the midfield.

Dale continued to do most of the pressing and Adam Rundle mis-hit a shot after the ball had been rolled invitingly into his path on the edge of the area.

Will Buckley then beat Porter down the left and slid the ball across the face of the goal, but no one was on the end of it.

Barnet had to wait until just before half time for their first real effort on goal, Yakubu meeting a Nicky Nicolau cross with his head, the ball striking the outside of the post before going behind.

Though Rochdale had bossed most of the first half, it was probably the closest either side had come to breaking the deadlock.

However, the second half was just four minutes old when Rochdale struck, Dagnall stealing in to turn home a Gary Jones cross from just inside the six-yard box. It was a soft goal, Jones having been given time to pick out his man, which he did with precision.

But the Bees were level midway through the half. A free kick was rolled to Deverdics and his grasscutter was deflected into the path of Yakubu, who steadied himself before drilling low under keeper Sam Russell from 12 yards. It was a confident finish from the defender.

The equaliser gave the hosts the lift they needed and Albert Adomah, having a quiet game by his standards, shot well wide from the edge of the area, the Bees now sensing a winner.

The goal almost came at the other end, however, Dagnall firing just wide with five minutes to go, the ball falling to him just inside the area.
