Three second-half goals gave Barnet their first win since the beginning of November.
Skipper Micah Hyde and John O'Flynn (2) struck to finally put an end to the club's barren spell.
This was a far better pertformance from the Bees. They were solid at the back and full of running up front.
With Albert Adomah back to his best as well, the hosts were good value for the victory.
Boss Ian Hendon made two changes from the side that lost at Notts County last week.
He recalled top scorer O'Flynn and youngster Jake Hyde up front, reverting back to a 4-4-2 formation.
New signing David Livermore had to settle for a place on the bench, but did come on for his debut.
After an even start, the first real chance fell to Adomah. He cut inside but lifted his shot well over the bar.
Adomah was the chief threat for the hosts and there was a sense of anticipation whenever he got the ball.
Aldershot had a chance on the half-hour, John Grant hooking the ball just over after turning well in a central position.
The first half was far from dull, with both sides looking lively, but, in truth, there was not a lot of goalmouth action.
Albert Jarrett did put over an inviting cross for the Barnet attack, but neither Jake Hyde or O'Flynn could reach the ball when all that was needed was a touch.
With ten minutes of the half to go, Aldershot's Grant met a cross from the left and, though the striker was unmarked, headed well wide.
The Shots should have taken the lead five minutes into the second half. Barnet keeper Jake Cole pushed out an Oliver Bozanic shot, but only into the path of ex-Bee Anthony Charles. However, the ball came out too quickly for Charles to control and he only succeeded in lifting it over the bar.
And it was the Bees who struck five minutes later. Adomah put over a gem of a cross from the right and Micah Hyde stole in unmarked to head home from a few yards.
It was almost two soon after. This time Jarrett supplied the cross and Jake Hyde rose to meet it, but he directed his header straight at the keeper.
Adomah then shot into the side netting, as the hosts looked for a crucial second.
And that came in the 64th minute. Mark Hughes won a tackle and poked the ball forward for O'Flynn who found himself with time and space. The Irishman made no mistake, his low shot beating keeper Stephen Henderson.
The two-goal cushion gave Barnet a confidence that had been missing in recent weeks.
The Bees continued to go forward, sensing this was finally their day.
They looked like they should have had a penalty when Jarrett was sent sprawling, but the referee waved away the appeals.
The Shots were not out of it, however, and sub Kirk Hudson blazed wide at the other end when he should have done better.
But, with five minutes to go, LIvermore crossed and O'Flynn rose to loop in a header for his second of the game.
