Hendon: It was two points dropped at Crewe

Many Barnet fans might have settled for a point at Crewe on Saturday in view of the Bees' poor away form this season.

But boss Ian Hendon was 'bitterly disappointed' his side did not come away from Gresty Road with all three.

It perhaps highlights the improvement shown by his troops in recent weeks. It is now just two defeats from the last seven games.

Hendon said: "I'm bitterly disappointed with the second-half display, but on the other hand, we've come away from home and we were by far the better side in the first half. Come the second half and we never really got going."

And Hendon was not happy that Crewe hit their late equaliser via a set-piece.

"That's what has disappointed me most. We knew they (Crewe) were inventive from set-plays. We work on it in training, but when the lads get on the pitch they do not put it into practice. Someone has got to take responsibility."

"There's a few little issues that we've ironed out in the dressing room that I wasn't happy with in the second half. It was definitely two points dropped," Hendon added.

Barnet's first-half performance certainly gave much encouragement. The Bees were good value for their half-time lead.

Crewe went in front early on through Clayton Donaldson, but the visitors fought back well.

John O'Flynn cut inside from the right to find the roof of the net with his left boot from the edge of the box. It was his 15th goal of the season and probably his best.

Matt Lockwood was then teed up on the edge of the area and the left-back showed what a sweet shot he has, even though his drive found the net via a deflection.

Perhaps Barnet were already resting on their laurels after the interval and the hosts deservedly grabbed an equaliser eight minutes from time, Donaldson finishing off a well-worked free-kick.

BARNET: Cole; Devera, Kamdjo, Breen, Lockwood; Adomah, Hughes, M Hyde, Livermore (Deverdics 12), Jarrett; O'Flynn. Subs not used: Carpenter, Gillet, O'Neill, Deen, Vilhete, J Hyde.

Attendance: 3,551.
