Barnet boss Ian Hendon was sent off, along with defender Clovis Kamdjo, as the Bees lost their cool at Underhill this afternoon.
Accrington also had a player dismissed during an eventful encounter.
Both red cards on the pitch came when the player concerned conceded a penalty. John O'Flynn put the Bees in front on 30 minutes after keeper Ian Dunbavin saw red for bringing down Albert Adomah.
But Barnet lost their way after the interval and, after the visitors had equalised, they too were awarded a penalty ten minutes from time, Kamdjo going off.
Home keeper Jake Cole saved it, but Stanley grabbed their winner five minutes from time, in controversial fashion.
The hosts, including Hendon, saw their appeals for offside waved away and Billy Kee's strike was allowed to stand.
An angry Hendon was ordered off and Accrington held on to claim the points.
It completed an amazing turnaround.
Manager Hendon decided not to start new loan signings Ben Wright and Ed Upson, both having to settle for a place on the bench.
The boss reverted back to a 4-4-2 system, with striker Jake Hyde coming in for injured midfielder David Livermore.
Accrington should have scored with the first chance on two minutes, Billy Kee, in a central position, volleying wide after a nice move. He should have at least forced Jake Cole into a save.
It was a slow start by Barnet, though Jake Hyde did see a glancing header go straight to the keeper.
The hosts did produce a nice passing move on 15 minutes, but it came to nothing, Albert Jarrett's cross hacked away from the danger area.
The Bees were starting to click and they thought they had scored soon after, Micah Hyde racing in to meet an Albert Adomah cross.
But the celebrations were cut short by the linesman's flag, much to the bemusement of everyone.
At the other end, Cole did well to tip over a John Miles drive, as Accrington looked to rub salt into the wound.
And they almost did again, two minutes later, but Kee, clean through, cleared the bar by a couple of inches. He again should have scored.
With half an hour gone, Dean Winnard sold Stanley keeper Ian Dunbavin short and Adomah nipped in. Dunbavin had no choice but to hack him down as Adomah beat him to the ball. The unlucky keeper was shown a red card and John O'Flynn, despite the long wait while the visitors brought on sub keeper Dean Bouzanis, stroked home the penalty.
Barnet were now full of confidence and a superb Matt Lockwood ball freed Adomah on the right, but his delicate chip was over the bar, while O'Flynn saw Bouzanis push away a near post effort.
The second half started quietly, though O'Flynn did have a shot straight at the keeper after an Adomah corner was rolled to him on the edge of the area.
At the other end, Michael Symes beat the offside trap, but made a mess of his shot.
However, on the hour, Accrington were level, Phil Edwards heading home from a corner. It was a soft goal to concede.
Stanley were now the better side, the Bees struggling to make their extra man count.
And, with ten minutes to go, Clovis Kamdjo saw red after bringing down Kee.
Kamdjo had made a mess of a clearance and, as he attempted to redeem himself, clipped the Stanley striker.
However, Edwards saw Cole turn his spot kick round the post.
Barnet thought they had got away with it, but Kee cracked home the winner five minutes from time, with Barnet, including Hendon, appealing for offside.
