Javelin thrower Nick Nieland made it two golds for Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
The experienced field athlete, competing for England, became the second Copthall-based star to reign victorious Down Under.
Trecia Smith last week won gold in the triple jump for Jamaica.
Both athletes were among the favourites for gold and Nieland, like Smith, did not disappoint.
Nieland was the only man to throw over 80m in the javelin. His first-round throw of 80.10m was enough to give him the title.
The 34-year-old had to settle for bronze at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, behind current coach Steve Backley, who took the silver.
Now it was his turn to receive the ultimate prize.
Nieland, who has competed at three Olympic Games, said: "I've got my medal and I hope it's the start of many things to come."
Despite his age, the athlete added that he was in the best shape of my life' and believes he can get even better.
"The sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned," he said.
Meanwhile, Natasha Danvers-Smith won a silver in the 400m hurdles, but her joy in the 4x400m relay turned to despair when the English quartet was disqualified after coming home first. Danvers-Smith was penalised for taking up the wrong position at the changeover for the third leg.
Lee McConnell, representing Scotland, took a bronze in the 400m hurdles, finishing just behind Danvers-Smith.
There was also a silver medal for Emma Ania, who was part of the English women's 4x100m relay team.
The other Barnet-based medal winner was Nadia Williams, who gained bronze for third place in the triple jump.
