Barnet started their League Two campaign with defeat at the B2net Stadium this afternoon.
Dwayne Mattis gave the hosts a half-time lead, before Jack Lester doubled the advantage on the hour.
But the Bees refused to give in and Glen Poole gave Barnet hope with 20 minutes to go. Including friendlies, Poole has now scored in the last three games.
However, it proved to be in vain, as the Bees could not find an equaliser, even though the hosts were reduced to ten men when Craig Davies was sent off in the closing stages.
Barnet return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Swansea City in the first round of the Carling Cup.
