Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez has described his side’s performance in the 4-0 loss against Swindon Town as “not good enough.”

First half goals from Raffaele De Vita, Matt Ritchie and Mehdi Kerrouche had given the Robins a three goal advantage at the break and Ritchie added a fourth in the second period with a fantastic individual strike.

Barnet rarely threatened throughout the contest and Steve Kabba came closest with a shot in the first minute that was well saved.

Sanchez said: “It was not good enough and I have to apologise to the fans for the result and the level of performance in the game.”

It was a familiar story for the Bees who had started well in the match but after conceding two quick goals never looked like staging a fight back.

“It is a worry how quickly we concede a second goal. It is not as big an issue as the the first goal because goals will always be scored and every team concedes,” said Sanchez.

He continued “But what we have to do is to make sure that we are still in the game long enough to draw ourselves level.

“We have to stop the second coming so quickly after the first because then our strikers can get us back into the match and if we have a problem that is it.”

After an encouraging start to the season, where good performances were not getting a deserved points return, the Bees have struggled in September and have only taken four points from five games.

Sanchez said he wants to instil the same belief in his side that was instrumental in keeping the Bees in the Football League last season.

“I think we have got to remember where we came from last year and even the way we started the season because we have fallen away from that in the last four games.

“The type of results we were getting last season were with the majority of the same team so we know the way they can perform.”

Some Barnet fans have been calling for the Bees’ boss to bring in players on loan and make a change to the formation of the side.

The former Northern Ireland boss said: “The people we could get in on loan would be young kids with potential and with respect to those players we have our own youngsters I would rather play.

“We discuss things like the formation everyday and at the moment I think it is the personnel in the formation that needs to be sorted, and I still don’t think we know our best team.

“It is strange because when we had our backs to the wall in terms of injuries were we performing well and since we got everyone fit and have a full squad again haven’t been so good.”

The Bees have a busy October playing seven matches throughout the month but four of those games will be at home and Sanchez knows his side needs to start collecting points at Underhill.

“Our home record has not been great in the last couple of years and we need to win games at home because you can’t be relying on collecting points from away matches.”
