Barnet look set to complete the signing of former Chelsea and Southampton defender Jack Saville

Barnet are set to complete the permanent signing of Jack Saville after the defender left Championship side Southampton.

Saville enjoyed a three month loan spell with the Bees which ended after last weekend’s game against Crewe Alexandra.

Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez said after that match that the Bees couldn’t complete a deal with the Saints about extending the loan and Saville returned to the south coast.

However, Saville and Southampton came to an agreement on Tuesday night to release the defender and he now looks set to permanently join the Bees.

Fair deal all round. Highly unlikely he would maximise his potential but would have liked to see him go out on a long term loan. That way we're not kicking ourselves when he goes to a top side in a few years for several million. Sound familiar?
