Finchley suffer Eastcote loss in Middlesex County Cricket League Division One
2:20pm Thursday 24th May 2012 in Sport
Finchley were unable to build on their opening day success in Middlesex County Cricket League Division One as they fell to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Eastcote.
The hosts were inserted but struggled to make any early ground, finding themselves at 18 for two after both Steve Selwood (four) and George Charlton (duck) were caught leg before wicket.
Majed Ali (32), Jake Milton (51 not out) and Ayush Sahota (30) helped pull Finchley’s score up but outside of the top five in the order, only Ross Sutcliff reached double figures following a knock of 11.
Colin Myers had been unable to amend the score in the four balls he faced before he was dismissed, leaving the hosts skittled for 147.
It was not a particularly daunting chase for Eastcote and they duly reached their target after 39 overs for the loss of just two wickets.
Tom Scollay top-scored with 87 while Harpal Sagoo’s contribution of 41 proved useful in helping the visitors claim victory.
Andrew Plummer took both wickets at the expense of 38 for Finchley who visit Stanmore on Saturday.
