Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier stars at Diamond League meeting

Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier Abi Oyepitan finished second in the 200m at the Diamond League meeting in Oslo.

Oyepitan was up against a world class field in Norway but held her own as she clocked a time of 22.71. The athlete also lined up in the 100m but faded at the end to finish seventh in 11.70.

Meanwhile Larry Achike (V35) came eighth in the triple jump with 16.12 in his first international meeting since the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Marilyn Okoro came third in the New York meeting with a time of 1.59.37 in the 800m.

In other action, the senior men's team finished second in the first British Athletic League Premiership match.

Zane Duquemin threw a personal best of 18.18 in the shot putt and is ranked first in the UK for Under-23s. Allan Smith equalled his PB in the high jump with 2.15. Daniel Bramble jumped a season's best 7.69 in the long jump which puts him second in the U-23 rankings. Nathan Fox achieved a PB in the triple jump with 16.29m which also puts him second overall.

The Bedford International Games took place with top ranked Nicholas Percy smashing his PB in the 1.75kg discus with 56.12. Shadine Duqemin bettered her own record in the 1kg discus with 50.34 which was a club record and also a qualifying distance for the World Junior Championships. Chris Bennett improved his PB to 68.08 in the 7.26kg hammer.

Liam Dee came second in the 800m A race with a PB of 1.53.03 at the BMC Regional Races in Wormwood Scrubs. Dee also went on to win the U-17 3000m with a PB of 8.46.10 at the Southern Combined Events Championship.

Kyle Langford was second with a PB of 1.51.31 in the 800m at the BMC Nike Grand Prix. Niall Fleming almost won as he managed second with a PB of 14.08.55 in the 5000m.

In the Herne Hill Harriers Open, Blade Ashby won the 110m hurdles with a best time of 14.65.
