Potters Bar beaten by Burnham in Home Counties Premier League Division One

Potters Bar were unable to make it back-to-back victories in Home Counties Premier League Division One as they fell to a 77-run loss at Burnham.

The home side won the toss and made some good early progress, putting on 56 runs before the first wicket fell.

It was Salman Choudhry (three for 46) who took the opening three wickets in quick succession to put Burnham on 68 for three.

However, knocks from opener Rezwan Nadeem (77) and Shaid Nadeem (62) put Burnham back on the front foot, helping them eventually reach a total of 278 for nine declared.

The Bar attack struggled to make significant inroads into the hosts’ order but the wickets were shared around with Mark Taylor returning two for 46 while Tanweer Sikandar, Lenny Cooper and Antony Keely all picked up one apiece.

The visitors’ reply looked to be in healthy shape as they reached 124 for two with James Kettleborough (62) and number three Marc Milligan (67) in fine form.

However, there was little cheer elsewhere in the order with Keely (17) and Peter Sodbodjar (26) the only others to reach double figures.

The early promise of a successful chase was never fulfilled as Bar were dismissed for 201 in the 48th over, with Muddassar Nawaz taking five for 60.

Defeat means Bar have dropped one place to sixth in the division but they will hope to climb back up when they welcome table-toppers High Wycombe to The Walk on Saturday.
