So far in pre-season, Barnet have been on the road but they return to Underhill tonight for their first home friendly of the summer.

Their opponents will be League One champions Charlton Athletic – a club Bees head coach Mark Robson has played and coached at during his career.

He spent more than a decade at the Valley during two spells with the club and will share the Underhill touchline with Addicks boss Chris Powell – someone who Robson has previously worked with and describes as a fantastic guy.

However, he hopes his Bees side will be able to cause an upset against the Championship opposition.

“It will be a tough game for the boys playing against Championship opposition but if we can produce the same level of football and fitness as against St Albans then I’m sure we will give him a good game.”

He continued: “I know Chris very well. He is a fantastic guy who I have a lot of time and respect for. I’m delighted for him because he had a great season to get promotion. I spent a long time there as a player and a coach and it’s a club that’s really close to my heart.

“You want to be up against the best and the match will be the players and my toughest so far. Hopefully we can put on a decent performance and maybe surprise them.

“I’m looking forward to it (the first home match) and I hope we can put on a good performance for the fans.

“But I am still focused on the fitness side of things and getting the players through another decent amount of time on the pitch.”
