There is no doubt Barnet have developed into a side with philosophy of passing football under Mark Robson but the Bees head coach admits “it is still a bit of a work in progress”.

And he is not wrong. Barnet rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 3-2 victory over Boreham Wood.

The quick flowing football was evident at Meadow Park; however there were also moments where the Bees lost possession on the edge of their box.

Those mistakes didn’t prove costly but when Barnet kick off their season next Tuesday in the Capital One Cup against Birmingham, you’d expect them to be ruthlessly punished.

Robson acknowledges there are aspects of their game his side need to work on but stressed he is happy with how the style has developed throughout pre-season.

“The change in playing style is very different and I think it is still a bit of a work in progress really,” Robson explained.

“There are a few things we need to correct and put right and again it is something that we are going to have to do on the training ground with lots of repetition.

“But on the playing side I am quite happy. I’m happy with the ways we are doing things at the moment.”

He continued: “On the playing side there are lots of positives for me. I am really pleased with the way the lads are going about the way we play and they are taking it on board.

“But of course, on the defensive side, there are certain aspects to work on. Against Boreham wood I thought there was one aspect that worked really well but there are other bits that we need to correct.”
