Barnet boss Mark Robson admits his side weren't good enough against York City
9:05pm Saturday 25th August 2012 in Sport
Mark Robson admits there is “lots more improvement needed” from his Barnet side after they suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to York City.
Daniel Parslow and Ashley Chambers put York two goals ahead before the Bees hit back through Jon Nurse.
York added a third just before the break as Michael Coulson found the net and in truth were rarely troubled in the second period.
It means Barnet are still searching for their first victory of the season and Robson admitted that his team were not “good enough” against the Minstermen.
“I’m really disappointed with the first half performance because we didn’t play. At half time there were a few choice words said. We were better in the second half in terms of trying to play but still lots more improvement needed. Just overall it wasn’t good enough,” the Bees boss stated.
“I have asked the players to be confident and to try and play football. I don’t want to just lump the ball and everything we do in training is based and geared around that.
“When you are at home, if things are not going exactly right people get a little bit edgy. It is easy when you are losing 3-1 but we started to play a bit, and when Olly Lee came on he helped us because he put some decent passes in and found people in little pockets.
"But we have to work harder to try and make things better and that is what we will do.”
He added: “We have got to put it right and we have to get it right. Today wasn’t good enough all round and there is no one more disappointed than me.”
