Stanmore relegation worries continue after defeat against Hornsey

With one game remaining, Stanmore are still in relegation danger after their penultimate match of the Middlesex League Division One season ended in a 12-run defeat against Hornsey on Saturday.

After being inserted into the field, Stanmore performed well with the ball to dismiss their opponents for 168 in 61.5 overs.

Mukesh Bhatt proved the main threat with the ball and he ended with seven for 67, while the other three wickets were claimed by Marc Reingold.

In response, Stanmore began poorly as openers Talha Azam (zero) and Steve Mehra (six) were both dismissed with just 19 runs on the board.

Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash (50) came in at number four and his half-century steadied the run chase.

Omar Anwar (38) also provided a good knock but Hornsey continued to take wickets without the Stanmore batsmen making major inroads to the target.

Stanmore were skittled for 156 inside the 52 overs to fall narrowly short of their target.
