Saracens boss Mark McCall admits there are disadvantages to the club's rotation system but insists it will pay dividends at the end of the season.

McCall's men lost 14-12 to Exeter Chiefs on Sunday while resting a host of stars including Schalk Brits, Matt Stevens, Steve Borthwick, Ernst Joubert and Charlie Hodgson.

But the Sarries coach claims the benefits of the club's rotation policy will ultimately outweigh the negatives.

McCall said: "We understand that there are some potential downsides to the amount of rotation that we do but we think there are big upsides to it as well.

"The proof of that pudding will be next March, April and May.

"Hopefully we will arrive at that point in the season with a squad that is mentally fresh and physically improving and as I said the proof will be in the pudding."

Saracens have picked up just three points in their last two games and their next game is away to Harlequins on Sunday.
