Mark Robson is hopeful Dutch international striker Collins John will score the goals to help Barnet move up the League Two table.
The Bees completed the surprise signing of the former Fulham forward prior to their 0-0 draw against Rotherham United on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, who has won four caps for the Netherlands, has led somewhat of a nomadic existence in recent years and last turned out for Iranian outfit Mes Sarcheshmeh.
However, Robson believes the striker, when fit, will be a valuable asset for the Bees.
He said: “Firstly I think it is a fantastic signing for us. He made his name here in this country with Fulham and was an outstanding player. The last few years he has been here, there and everywhere but he is still only 26.
“He will be working hard over the next few weeks to get himself fit and then match fit. But he is someone we are pleased to get into the club and we are hopeful he can be part of a team and score goals, along with others, that will help us move up the league.”
