Barnet sign Sierra Leone international Ishmail Kamara
7:59pm Friday 28th September 2012 in Sport
Barnet have strengthened their forward options with the signing of Ishmail Kamara.
The 24-year-old, who has been capped five times by Sierra Leone, has signed a two-year contract at Underhill having played in America, Thailand and Sweden and, most recently, Dulwich Hamlet.
“I’m so happy that I’ve signed,” Kamara told Barnet’s official website. “Everyone has made me feel so welcome and I’d like to thank the technical team for giving me this opportunity.”
Bees head coach Mark Robson said: “Ishmail is an extremely hungry lad that’s desperate to do well and he really impressed us whilst training. Ishmail stands in at 6ft 1in, he’s strong and very quick which will help compliment our team.”
Barnet claim clubs including Stevenage, Northampton Town and Bournemouth were interested in the forward but Kamara said: “Having spent a few weeks training at these great facilities and with such a friendly squad I’m so pleased to have put pen to paper.
“I’m bringing with me experience from playing in numerous countries and I’d like to pride myself on being a forward that links the play. We have a great bunch of guys here who are playing football the right way.
“We are working extremely hard to move out of this league position which I feel we are unlucky to be in. I will do all I can to help the team secure a safe position in the league. The fans will see that I’m a hard working striker and I can’t wait to get started.
