Finchley Racing Team’s Trevor Burke ends season with bronze medal at the Masters World Track Championships

Finchley Racing Team’s Trevor Burke ended his season in style with a third place finish in the Individual Pursuit Race at the Masters World Track Championships.

Having placed third in the qualifying round at the event, held at the Manchester Velodrome, Burke then rode off for the bronze medal against his Danish opponent.

The Finchley competitor was behind at the half way point but a fine comeback saw him eventually cross the line three seconds clear in first.

His performance made him a firm favourite for his next two races, the points and scratch, but illness meant he was a non-finisher in the in the points event.

The following day, Burke had recovered somewhat and qualified for the final of the Scratch race. However, he was still not 100 per cent fit and he was unable to finish in the top ten in the race.

Meanwhile, Lee Rowe secured a top ten position of his points race while Osama Assem claimed sixth in his final road race of the season.
