Hendon exited the Isthmian League Cup after penalty defeat to Tilbury

Hendon crashed out of the Isthmian League Cup after a 3-0 penalty shoot-out defeat against 2009 cup winners Tilbury.

The game ended 2-2 in normal time but it was the Greens who lost their nerve from 12 yards as they exited the competition without finding the net in the shoot-out.

Jack Mazzone scored twice in the first half for the Hendon but the visiting Dockers fought back with goals from new signings Tony Jacobs and former Brentwood striker Sherwin Stanley to send the game to penalties.

Scott Shulton, Mazzone and Elliott Brathwaite all missed for Hendon and Greens’ Gary McCann boss was disappointed with his side’s performance in normal time.

He said: “We should have been out of sight at half-time. I am disappointed we didn’t see the game out and our defending for the second goal was very poor.”
