Mark Robson believes former Juventus and Barcelona star Edgar Davids has given Barnet an 'extra edge'

Mark Robson believes Edgar Davids has given Barnet an “extra edge” and praised the Dutchman’s impact on and off the pitch.

The former Juventus and Barcelona midfielder made his debut for the Bees in the 4-0 victory against Northampton Town on Friday.

Despite not playing for nearly two years, Davids lasted the entire 90 minutes and impressed as he helped Barnet to a first win of the season.

Davids’ joint head coach Robson said: “Edgar has come in and made a difference as has Uli (Ulrich Landvreugd) as well. They have been great on the training pitch and there has been a lot of work put it.

“So it has given us an extra edge to what we already had.”

Reflecting on the midfielder’s debut, Robson added: “He is an influence on the pitch for us and he helps the players around him. He gives us something that we haven’t had, a leader in the middle who can make things happen.”

“He is a talker and a communicator. He knows the game inside out and is someone who has added to the younger players around him.

“He is very similar in his coaching style. So it shone through in the game and he certainly helped the younger players.”
