With Barnet's chances of reaching the play-offs over, Martin Allen has revealed that Freddie Warren will make his first Bees' appearance in over against Nuneaton on Saturday.

Allen has confirmed that he will use the Bees' remaining fixtures to take a closer look at the fringe members of the squad.

Warren, 21, has not made a competitive appearance for Barnet since a 2-0 defeat at Rochdale in September 2012.

The former Charlton Athletic youth team player has been frustrated by a series of injuries and spent time out on loan at Hastings United and Canvey Island in 2013.

With the season drawing to a close, Allen has cancelled the loan spells of strikers Dani Lopez and Alex Peterson this week, as well as allowing Marciano Mengerink and Roberto Casabella to leave on free transfers.

Speaking to the Bees' site on Friday, Allen confirmed that those decisions had been made as the players concerned would not be fit to feature again this season.

Like Barnet, Nuneaton have little to play for at this stage, sitting 17 points above the relegation zone and 11 below the play-offs.

The Boro have been making changes at this late stage too, appointing former Ayr United boss Brian Reid as their new manager on Wednesday.

A former defender with Rangers, Blackpool and Burnley, Reid has returned to the UK after spending a year coaching the Philippines' Under-23 side.
