Barnet have signed young Millwall striker Alfie Pavey on a 28-day youth loan - days after Martin Allen revealed his desire to add another player to his squad.

On Tuesday, Allen told The Times Series he was keen to sign another outfield player after last week capturing Yeovil Town forward Sam Hoskins on loan.

Pavey, 18, joins the Bees in order to gain competitive first-team experience, after featuring for Millwall's Under-21 side this season.

Speaking to the club's website, he said:

“I’m hoping to learn from some of the more experienced players and see if I can bring some of the qualities that they have in their game into mine. It should be a great experience for me playing against bigger, stronger players and working on my hold-up play.

“The first training session today went well. It is a nice little ground here and I’ve heard that they get a decent crowd, so hopefully I can get some game time and get myself on the scoresheet.”

The striker can still play for Neil Harris' Under-21 side throughout the duration of his loan stay at The Hive.

Pavey joined the Lions last summer after scoring 124 goals in a single season for Maidstone United's Under-18 side, en-route to winning the Conference Youth Alliance title.

He turns 19 on October 2 and goes straight into Barnet's squad for Saturday's trip to Forest Green Rovers.
