Match-winner Bondz N’Gala felt his late goal said a lot about Barnet’s character after the Bees shrugged off Forest Green Rovers’ 88th-minute equaliser to seal a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Ahead following Andy Yiadom’s 13th-minute goal; the Bees looked comfortable until Rob Sinclair lashed home from Luke Oliver’s knock-down to seemingly snatch a point for the hosts.

However, Barnet charged back into the Rovers half and won a corner, from which N’Gala rose highest to thump a header beyond Sam Russell and win the game.

It is the second time this season the Bees have won a match in injury time – after Luisma Villa’s free-kick against Alfreton – and N’Gala says it is no coincidence.

“It says a lot about the team’s character,” stated N’Gala. “The gaffer is always on about us playing strong and going all the way to the end. We work on it in training and do certain things in training to promote that. The gaffer has got the message across and we are glad to repay the faith in him.

“We are relentless and we do not stop. We have been quite ruthless with teams and we go all the way to the end. We are going to give 100 per cent – that is the sort of squad that we have,” the former West Ham United defender added.

“We were very disappointed to concede so late on – especially as we have been doing well with clean sheets as a team. But we are happy that we went all the way to the end and got the win in the end.”

N’Gala, who had a six-game loan stay with Barnet in 2013, says it is important for all players to contribute at both ends of the field after opening his account for the Bees.

He explained: “It is good to get off the mark. It takes whole lot of weight off the shoulders and it is good for other positions to chip in – not just the strikers to score all the goals.

“Everyone likes to chip in with goals and everyone should chip in with goals. Everyone contributes to clean sheets, not just defenders.

“It is a great feeling to score a goal but more importantly, win the game.”

Even without the imposing Clovis Kamdjo, Ady Pennock’s Rovers were a big side, with 6ft 7in centre-back Oliver heading the ball across the face of goal for Sinclair to equalise.

However N’Gala felt the Bees coped well with the questions asked of them physically.

He said: It was one of those games I relish and enjoy. I enjoy the physical battle, so it was a game that I really enjoyed.

“It was a tough ask, but I think we dealt with it quite well and we won the majority of the aerial battles and I thought we did well as a team.”

And with a trip to Braintree Town on Tuesday evening, N’Gala says the focus will soon be switching to a clash with the Iron.

“We have got to enjoy the win whilst we can, but we have got to get our heads back on it and back to the game on Tuesday,” confirmed N’Gala.

“We just take each games as it comes and try and win every game. We are happy with that we have got a little bit of a cushion but we are just trying to push on now.”
