Martin Allen admits Barnet have sometimes been “pants” this season but has called on Bees supporters to get behind their side for the remaining home games.

The Bees, currently second after Bristol Rovers’ 5-1 win over Chester on Good Friday, begin their Easter schedule at home to Nuneaton Town this afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Allen’s side then travel to Dartford on Monday (12.45pm kick-off) with the game broadcast live on BT Sport.

A new singing section, which will be housed in Block B of the West Stand, has been created at The Hive for Barnet’s next two home games - against Boro and FC Halifax Town - in order to boost the atmosphere at matches.

Speaking to the club website ahead of today’s visit from Liam Daish’s Nuneaton, Allen gave the initiative his backing.

He said: “I am sure that all the people within that section will do as they have done all season to be fair. The supporters have all showed great passion, great commitment and great courage when we haven’t played well – because sometimes we have been pants, let’s face it.

“My job is to get the players to play as best as they can and get them to enjoy playing. If the players do their bit and I do my bit then I am sure that Block B will most definitely play their role.”

Allen continued: “This weekend is always a big weekend in football. I love the two games in three days. Apparently it is Easter this weekend but that doesn’t interest me one little bit. We will all be in training on Sunday morning and getting ourselves ready to go again on Monday.”

“It is a great weekend in the football calendar; exciting for the players, exciting for the supporters and me personally I just absolutely love it, it is a great three days to be involved in football.”

Club captain Charlie MacDonald is fit enough to be in contention once more having been an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw at Alfreton Town last Saturday.

The Bees started in a 4-4-1-1 system at Alfreton but could revert to 4-4-2 for the visit of 21st-placed Nuneaton, with MacDonald and Michael Gash in competition to partner John Akinde up front.

Midfielder Curtis Weston will make his 100th league start for Barnet if he plays.
