Michael Gash is not getting carried away with the idea of winning the Conference at former club Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday but admits it will be strange to return.

The 28-year-old striker will hope to lead the line along with 31-goal-top-scorer John Akinde when the Bees travel to Aggborough looking to seal promotion to the Football League.

If Martin Allen’s side beat 14th-placed Kidderminster and Bristol Rovers lose at eighth-placed Dover Athletic, the title will be Barnet’s.

A draw for the Gas coupled with a Barnet win would see the Bees’ lead stretched to three points with a sizeable goal difference in their favour ahead of the final day of the season.

Speaking after Saturday’s win over FC Halifax Town, Gash admitted it would be good to return to the club who freed him to lighten their wage bill in January and seal promotion.

He said: “It would be [good to go there and win the title]. To win it at a former club would be good but we have got to go there and get three points. We are not thinking about winning it at Kidderminster, we are thinking about going there, getting the job done and coming back to Barnet with three points and nothing less.”

Gash spent almost two years with the Worcestershire club, scoring 21 times for Kiddy before being allowed to leave in January due to the club’s financial plight.

The Rinteln-born forward said: “Yes [it will be strange for me]. It is going back there where I had a couple of great years, nearly got promoted and the fans there were great to me.

"It will be good to go back and see a few familiar faces but we are going there for the win.”
