Former Barnet player Alan Pardew brings Premier League side Crystal Palace to The Hive on Saturday (3pm kick off) with former favourites Jason Puncheon and Yannick Bolasie expected to make the trip.

Puncheon spent two years at Underhill between 2006 and 2008 before moving to Plymouth Argyle. In 97 outings he netted 17 times for the Bees.

Meanwhile, it was from the Pilgrims that Bolasie initially joined Barnet on loan during the 2010/11 season, excelling before returning to Home Park and eventually joining the south Londoners. He made 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.

Head coach Martin Allen has called for a much sharper display from his side after last weekend’s 6-1 thrashing of Hungerford Town, which came after just three days’ training.

Speaking on Saturday, Allen said: “The last three days we have just worked on the players’ strength, conditioning and sharpness and getting back into playing small-sided games. It has all been football work, we have hardly done any running.

“Nearly all of them have come back fit so we will continue that. But for this week I can now get onto the training pitch and do my work with team play and get everybody in our squad knowing how we play and what we do with and without the ball.

“I would expect a much sharper performance against Crystal Palace.”

And that is exactly what the Bees will get. Pardew, who played for Barnet between 1995 and 1997 at the tail-end of his career, lifted the Eagles when he succeeded Neil Warnock at the beginning of January.

The former Newcastle United and West Ham United boss eventually delivered an excellent tenth-place finish, pulling the south London side away from the relegation zone to deliver the club’s highest Premier League finish and their best position in the top flight since 1992.

Palace could hand a debut to new club record signing Yohan Cabaye after the French international joined from Paris St-Germain in £10 million deal.

The 29-year-old shot to prominence under Pardew at Newcastle before a £19 million switch to the Ligue 1 giants in January 2014.

Although the former Lille playmaker won five trophies during his time at the Parc des Princes, he did not feature regularly in a star-studded PSG midfield.

New signing Kevin Lisbie and goalkeeper Graham Stack should be involved for the Bees after being left out of the Hungerford win, whilst Shaun Batt could make his bow after joining on a two-year deal.
