Barnet boss Martin Allen has suggested he will shuffle his pack for the trip to National League South side St Albans City this evening (7.45pm kick-off).

The Bees continue their pre-season preparations apace with a trip to face Jimmy Gray and Graham Golds’ men at Clarence Park after Saturday’s 5-3 defeat at home to Premier League Crystal Palace.

Allen named a strong starting XI and those players played a full hour before ten changes were made to freshen up the side for the final half an hour. Only player-coach Graham Stack played the full 90 minutes.

And speaking after that work-out by the top flight side, Allen confirmed he would shake up the side once again for the trip to face the Saints.

He said: “We play again on Tuesday at St Albans and some of the players that only played for 30 minutes today will play on Tuesday so everything is carefully planned and prepared and will make sure everyone gets the right amount of minutes.”

One man who was not involved in Saturday’s tussle at The Hive was new signing Shaun Batt. The winger-cum-forward was signed on Thursday but left out of the game despite being on the bench with the rest of the squad.

Mauro Vilhete missed the game with a blister on his foot but is expected to return to the squad, whilst Keanu Marsh-Brown has been training with Forest Green Rovers in Northern Ireland in an attempt to win a move to the National League outfit.

St Albans City have played three pre-season matches already, losing 4-0 to Premier League Watford and League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge, as well as holding National League new-boys Boreham Wood to a goalless draw on Saturday.
