Barnet head coach Martin Allen has revealed a few players have knocks and will undergo late fitness tests ahead of Tuesday’s visit from Northampton Town (7.45pm).

The Bees will be looking to get their first win since returning to League Two at the third time of asking as Chris Wilder’s side – who have six points from six – make the trip to The Hive.

Speaking ahead of the game, Allen confirmed there were a couple of injury doubts but would not shed any light on who was at risk of missing out.

He told the club website: “We picked up a few knocks on Saturday so there will be people that we need to assess and give fitness tests to, right up until the last minute on Tuesday evening.”

Kevin Lisbie is known to be a doubt after the veteran forward was substituted with a tight hamstring at Eastleigh in the Bees’ final pre-season friendly.

The 36-year-old was at Saturday’s defeat by Wycombe Wanderers but did not take part in the warm-up.

Allen was coy on when the former Leyton Orient forward might return when questioned on Saturday.

He said: “Kev is coming on slowly. With those injuries you have got to make sure they are right.

“Kev is a good player and of course we are going to miss. We need players like Kevin Lisbie when you have got a young team and he will certainly help everybody when he is fit.”

Despite being pointless and goalless after two league matches, Allen is refusing to panic and believes the quality of his side’s performances will eventually win through.

“In moments like this as a manager you have got to keep believing in your players, keep supporting them and keep looking after them,” he explained.

“It is no good having a go at them. They are doing all right. Last Tuesday we played at Millwall and dominated that game from start to finish playing some fantastic football and winning that game.

“At Leyton Orient I thought we had a lot of chances and did not take them. It is only a matter of time until the goals go in and we will be having a different conversation.”
