Barnet forward Ben Tomlinson made his debut for loan club Grimsby Town on Friday evening in a 1-1 draw against Tranmere Rovers.

The former Lincoln City attacker started from the bench and Paul Hurst's side, beaten in the Conference Play-Off Final in May, went 1-0 up after nine minutes thanks to Jon-Paul Pittman.

However, much-fancied Rovers equalised after the break through a loanee of their own, Nathan Blissett.

Tomlinson, who had made just one league start for Barnet before joining the Cleethorpes side on a month's loan, came on in the 70th minute for Pittman but could not help his new side force a winner.

Speaking after Saturday's 3-2 victory over Stevenage, Barnet boss Martin Allen said of the winger's move: "Ben trains really hard and trains really well but it has got to the stage where I thought he needed some games.

"It also gives him the chance to go back up north to see his family for a little while because he has been living down here in a little flat. So it is nice for him to see his family and nice for him to get involved up at Grimsby.

"I watched him come on as a sub on Friday night and I thought he did really well. That will be good for him to go up there for a month."

Tomlinson might have marked his debut with a goal but after a good touch took him inside his marker a shot from 25 yards was pushed away by the fingertips of goalkeeper Scott Davies.

In the Isthmian Premier Division, Tamille Roache made his debut for Metropolitan Police in a 1-1 draw at home to VCD Athletic.

The defender started - along with former Bee Jon Nurse - and played 64 minutes before being replaced by Ryan Case.

Harry Taylor made his debut in Hampton & Richmond Borough's 1-0 win over Billericay Town on Saturday, with Barnet teammate Shane Cojocarel missing a penalty for the Essex outfit.

Taylor played the full 90 minutes with Nicke Kabamba getting the Beavers' winner after 25 minutes.

But attacking midfielder Cojocarel missed a second half penalty for the home side, who sit 19th in the league standings.
