Michael Gash says Barnet must take their improved form away from home as they search for their first points on the road in League Two.

Back-to-back wins over Stevenage and Dagenham & Redbridge at The Hive have proved a welcome tonic to a winless run of four in the league, but Martin Allen’s side are still yet to take a point away from home.

And the Bees will get the chance to build on consecutive victories on Tuesday evening when they travel to fourth-placed Plymouth Argyle.

Speaking after his brace helped Barnet to a 3-1 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, Gash highlighted the need to replicate performances at home on their travels.

He said: “In other games we have created chances and just not put them away so hopefully we are starting to put chances away now and hopefully kick on.

"Two wins in front of our homes fans is great but we have got to kick on and do it away from home as well.

“I think we have performed very well away from home – except in maybe one game (Bristol Rovers) – so the boys will be confident.

“But you don’t get too high; you go home, relax and enjoy it, but tomorrow is the start of your recovery and then you’re concentrating on a tough game at Plymouth.”

Gash’s double means he is now the Bees’ top scorer this season with all four of his goals coming in Barnet’s last four League Two fixtures in what is his first season in the Football League.

But despite being the man in form the 29-year-old was keen to deflect the credit onto his teammates.

He said: “It was good to get goals again today but they have come from other players doing well for the team and me reacting.

“Yids’ (Andy Yiadom) goal as well was absolutely fantastic. The most important thing was the three points and topping it off with a great performance.”

He added: “The goal came in the first minute and I’ve got that goal because as a team we’ve come out the blocks firing on all cylinders, put the ball in there, won a few headers, people have reacted and John (Akinde) has provided a little bit of quality pulling it back for me to tap in.”

Gash was one of three strikers employed in a system which switched between a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1 fluidly and was again the recipient of a John Akinde assist for the opener after the Bees’ number nine set up Gash’s winner against Stevenage a week earlier.

The understanding between Gash, Akinde and Aaron McLean is growing week by week and the former Cambridge United striker was full of praise for his peers.

He said: “I think you’ve seen today that not just us three but the whole team, we don’t really care who scores.

"As long as someone is creating those chances and is someone is there to put it in the back of the net to help us win games, we are not fussed.

“John Akinde has got goals, Macca (Aaron McLean) has got goals and I’ve scored a few as well.

“There’s still Shaun Batt and Kevin Lisbie to come back. There are goals throughout the team and from midfield – and Yids got one today and he started at right-back."
